A First-Timer's Guide to Arabic Perfumes
August 29, 2026
If you've ever caught a whiff of a fragrance that seemed to linger in a room long after someone left it, there's a good chance it was an Arabic perfume. Rich, warm and unmistakably long-lasting, they're a different experience from the light florals and citrus scents most of us grew up wearing — and once you understand what makes them different, it's easy to see why they've built such a loyal following.
At Miratica, we carry a full range of Rasasi eau de parfums, one of the most respected names in Arabic perfumery. Here's what to know before you pick your first bottle.
What Makes Arabic Perfumes Different?
Where Western perfumes are often built around a light, top-heavy citrus or floral opening that fades within a couple of hours, Arabic perfumes are built the other way around. They lean on rich base notes — oud, amber, musk, sandalwood, saffron — designed to develop slowly on the skin and last well into the evening. They're also formulated at a higher concentration, which is a big part of why a single spray goes so much further.
Where to Start
If you're new to the category, it helps to think in terms of mood rather than “masculine” or “feminine” — most Arabic perfumes are worn by anyone who likes the scent:
- Warm and bold: Rasasi Hawas Black or Rasasi Elite Man lean into deep, spicy base notes — a good pick if you already gravitate toward stronger scents.
- Elegant and floral-oriental: Rasasi Diamonte Divine and Rasasi Sensual soften the classic Arabic profile with floral top notes, making them an easy entry point if you're used to lighter perfumes.
- Unisex and versatile: Rasasi Wood Intense and Rasasi Aura Accept are designed to be worn by anyone, and work well as an everyday signature scent rather than a special-occasion one.
How to Make It Last Even Longer
Spray on pulse points — wrists, neck, behind the ears — right after a shower, while skin is still slightly damp. Moisturised skin holds fragrance far better than dry skin, and because Arabic perfumes are oil-rich, one or two sprays is genuinely enough. Resist the urge to reapply throughout the day; let it develop instead.
